"Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children"

— Charles R. Swindoll

Mediation can be helpful when parents have difficulty agreeing on a parenting plan. Having a third party mediate these difficult issues allows for discussion to happen in a safe, neutral location. The goal of the mediator is to facilitate discussion, address concerns, and support parents in reaching agreements regarding their parenting plan. The child’s best interest is emphasized during this process.

Private Child Custody Recommending Counseling and Evaluation

Private Child Custody Recommending Counseling (CCRC) is when the Court appoints a mediator to meet with both parents to address the parenting plan. The parents are encouraged to reach an agreement during this process. If agreements are not obtained, the CCRC will make recommendations as to what is in the child(ren)’s best interest. The agreements and/or recommendations are submitted to the Court.

Child Custody Evaluations

A child custody evaluation, also known as 3111, is a process in which the CCRC is appointed by the Court. This process differs from above in that the evaluator's role is to assess the family system while focusing on the child(ren)'s best interest. The evaluator will meet with the parents, child(ren), and other important individuals in the child(ren)'s life. Information is gathered, assessed, and recommendations are submitted to the Court.

I will be able to provide private mediation for child custody issues in Spring 2021, and I will be able to mediate child custody cases in Sacramento and surrounding counties.
